Vision, mission and goals Vision (includes values) Concept Foundation aims to contribute towards achieving MDG 5 Goal: “To improve maternal health” by ensuring that women in developing countries have equitable access to essential, affordable healthcare products of assured quality. It will achieve this through appropriate management of intellectual property, transfer of technology and expertise. Mission To facilitate access to products for sexual and reproductive health of assured quality to the public sector of lower and middle income countries at the lowest possible cost. Overall goal To work towards achieving MDG 5 Goal: “To improve maternal health” by addressing aspects of Target 5a: “Reduce by three quarters the maternal mortality ratio”; and Target 5b: “Achieve, by 2015, universal access to reproductive health” by undertaking activities under Target 8e: “In cooperation with pharmaceutical companies, provide access to affordable essential drugs in developing countries” of MDG 8 Goal: “Develop a global partnership for development”. To achieve its mission, Concept Foundation designs and implements Access-to-Medicines (ATM) programmes for products that meet the reproductive health needs of people in developing countries. Concept Foundation has a general collaboration agreement with WHO in reproductive health, which allows it to translate the research work of WHO into products for commercialization for the benefit of poor and marginalized people who access their medicines through the public sector in developing countries worldwide.
